Increasingly, organisations, especially within the delivery sector, have an increased interest in the availability of choice. Not solely seeing the simplicity of A to B, organisations within the sector look to improve both time and cost efficiencies for all aspects of delivery and courier services. Yet being able to provide alternative options and solutions to tailor into the client’s needs is something far from easy to deliver upon, and as such, few organisations have been able to stabilise such an offering. One such company which we can use as a case study for the provision of such service is Delivery Partners, with offices in Plymouth and Newton Abbot in Devon Originally established all the way back in 2002, Delivery Partners is one of the South West of England’s most prominent independent couriers.
Historically, the company has always maintained an impressive level of specialism in same-day delivery, and has since complemented this offering with next-day and international courier services and fulfilment. As such, Delivery Partners is always there to support those with time-sensitive delivery requirements and specification. They even have provided a complete fulfilment service for one of the major political parties in the last election and more recently with the campaign for the EU referendum. Delivery Partners has worked with a wide assortment of industry clients, including organisations such as the NHS, Devon Country Council, Jewson, Carlsberg and many, many more. And looking at how the organisation has been able to work with such household names, Delivery Partners has created a service which can reliably deliver packages, parcels and pallets of all shapes and sizes, effectively positioning its service as one reliable by name, and by nature.
Through tapping into NCDA membership, Delivery Partners is able to extend its reach considerably, being able to cover the entirety of the UK through intertrading with other members, as well as through tapping into a vast courier network around the country. The NCDA network, of course, allows for Delivery Partners to collect at most UK locations within an hour or less – something no-doubt much appreciated by the company’s key clients. NCDA and GFS membership also grants Delivery Partners the ability to offer overnight and international courier services through most of the major carriers in the UK, allowing clients to have a true multi-carrier choice.
Some of those clients are in the distribution industry who don’t like the cost associated with delivering in the West Country. Stressing how this can be most useful to the client, Andrew Lummis, Managing Director of Delivery Partners explained: “For instance, a haulage company from the Midlands will find it cheaper for Delivery Partners to deliver a couple of pallets to the Torbay area or as far as Cornwall than to have the wasted time and expense of sending an 18t lorry with all the time and cost associated with tacho restrictions. “Apparently, Devon has the same amount of roads as Belgium 4,400 miles, which is 4.5 times as big as Devon, so add Cornwall and Somerset and that then becomes a rather large area to cover’’. No wonder they have become the courier of choice for the delivery of car, tractor and machinery parts in these counties, with their ‘through the night’ delivery service. They even go further afield, through a tie up with a European Network of Couriers, the can collect in mainland Europe within two to three hours if required. As a result of this, a major airline now use Delivery Partners for some of their more urgent collections in the UK and Europe.” Then extending from the sheer capabilities of the company, Delivery Partners also ensures that all members of their experienced team, are able to represent the company in a friendly, customer-focused manner using their real time cloud based booking service and using the latest tracking technology on their fleet of vans and hand-held devices. Service founded upon expertise and fine customer service.
